Key Responsibilities of the Role:
Operate asphalt paving machines and associated plant (roller, plate compactor, skid steer) Set up, level, and finish asphalt to specification and quality standards Work closely with crew members to deliver safe and efficient paving operations Read and follow site plans, levels, and job instructions Carry out daily pre-start checks and basic plant maintenance Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and productivity Work flexible hours including early starts, late finishes, and night shifts when required
What We Are Looking For:
Proven experience as an asphalt worker or paver operator Competency operating paving machines (required) Strong understanding of asphalt placement, screed operation, and compaction Capable of hand-laying asphalt where required, delivering a high-quality finish Ability to work unsupervised and lead by example on site Reliable, physically fit, and safety-focused Full NZ driver licence (Class 2 preferred) WTR endorsements (advantageous) Bobcat operating (advantageous) Site Safe / Construct Safe (preferred but not essential)
