Regional Operations Manager – Sports Turf – Permanent, full time, based in Christchurch

ABOUT MEXTED SPORTS TURF Mexteds is a well-established sports turf construction company with a growing presence in Christchurch.

THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced sports turf professional to help establish and lead our operations in Christchurch. This is a key role for a motivated person who enjoys working on the tools but also has the capability and ambition to grow a regional operation.

Initially, this role will be hands-on and operational, assisting with sports turf construction and renovation projects across Christchurch and the wider region. As we establish a permanent presence in the South Island, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing our customer base and expanding our operations.

Over time, the position will evolve to include broader management responsibilities, supporting the growth of our South Island business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and participate in sports turf construction and maintenance projects
• Supervise and mentor staff on-site, ensuring high standards of workmanship and safety
• Plan and coordinate daily operations, plant, and resources
• Develop strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
• Assist with quoting, purchasing, invoicing and job cost control
• Identify new business opportunities and support customer growth in the region
• Contribute to the development of our South Island operations and long-term strategy

ABOUT YOU

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a sports turf operator
• Level 4 Turf Qualification (minimum requirement)
• Proven experience supervising staff or leading small teams
• Strong practical knowledge of sports turf construction and maintenance
• Well organised with good communication and interpersonal skills
• Commercially aware, with an interest in developing customer relationships and growing a business
• Motivated, reliable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a wider management team
