The Role We are seeking an experienced Stone Machinist to join our production team in Christchurch. The successful candidate will have a strong background in stone fabrication and machining, with proven experience operating CAD-controlled bridge saws and stone CNC machinery. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled operator who takes pride in producing high-quality stone products while working in a modern manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and program CAD-controlled bridge saws for cutting engineered stone, porcelain, and natural stone products.
- Set up, operate, and maintain stone CNC machinery.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and production specifications.
- Ensure accurate cutting, shaping, polishing, and finishing of stone components.
- Conduct quality control inspections throughout the manufacturing process.
- Troubleshoot machine and production issues as required.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping.
- Work collaboratively with the production and installation teams to meet project deadlines.
- Adhere to all workplace health and safety procedures. Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the stone benchtop or stone fabrication industry.
- Proven experience operating CAD bridge saws and stone CNC machines.
- Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and technical plans.
- Strong understanding of stone fabrication processes and manufacturing workflows.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current New Zealand work rights. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CNC programming and machine optimisation.
- Forklift licence (advantageous but not essential).
- Experience working with engineered stone, porcelain, and natural stone materials. What We Offer
