Are you a hands-on, practical individual looking for a challenging and rewarding role in a stunning outdoor environment? Whangarei Golf Course is seeking a motivated Greenkeeper’s Assistant to support our Greens Team in delivering key course improvement and enhancement projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with parks or recreation experience, a strong practical skillset, and a solid work ethic to contribute directly to the ongoing development and presentation of our golf course and facilities.
The Role Working closely with the Head Greenkeeper and the Greens Team, you will assist with a range of capital works, upgrades, and general maintenance activities that are critical to maintaining and improving course quality. Key responsibilities include:
- Course Infrastructure: Assisting with irrigation and drainage installation and repairs
- Playing Surface Enhancement: Repairs and improvements to teeing grounds
- Hazard Management: Supporting bunker renovation and improvement projects
- General Maintenance: Operating light machinery and undertaking tasks required to support project and maintenance work
Key Requirements and Skills The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Practical Experience: Background in parks, horticulture, landscaping, grounds maintenance, or recreation services (highly desirable)
- Machinery Operation: Experience operating machinery, particularly a small digger/excavator (certification or proven experience is an advantage)
- Initiative & Attention to Detail: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver a high standard of finish
- Health & Safety Focus: Strong commitment to workplace health and safety practices
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively and follow direction from the Greens Team
Employment Details
- Position: Greenkeeper’s Assistant
- Hours: Part-time – minimum of 16hrs per week
- Remuneration: Competitive and commensurate with experience, in line with NZ employment requirements
- Leave Entitlements: Standard New Zealand holiday and leave provisions apply
- Location: Whangarei Golf Club - 10 Par Lane, Tikipunga
