Heavy Diesel Mechanic

JD Hickman Limited is an industry leader in Transport, Storage and Distribution.

We are looking for a fully qualified and experienced diesel mechanic to join our workshop team. This is not an entry-level position. We are seeking someone who can work independently, take ownership of their work, and bring strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to the role.

You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing trucks and trailers, primarily working with Kenworth's, DAFs, and Volvos. The successful applicant will be confident both on the tools and using modern electronic diagnostic systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on heavy diesel trucks and trailers.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs efficiently and to a high standard.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company health and safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate job records, service reports, and repair documentation.
• Work both independently and as part of a team to meet workshop deadlines.
• Participate in on-call duties as required.

Skills & Experience Required

• Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic – MITO apprenticeship or equivalent trade qualification.
• Proven experience working on heavy commercial vehicles and trailers.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability
• Good communication and time management skills.
• A Class 2–5 truck licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
