Job Description: The role of a floor tiler involves a multitude of tasks that require a blend of technical skills, precision, and client interaction. Below are some of the tasks expected:

1. Tile Installation and Repair: Cutting and shaping tiles properly to ensure they fit around obstacles and in tight corners and odd spaces using power and hand tools. Forming tile beds using materials like concrete, plaster, mastic, cement, glue, or mortar, and utilizing tools such as screeds, brushes, and trowels​​.
2. Client Interaction and Assessment: May be required to discuss with clients their tiling needs, which may include the choice of tiles, design preferences, and the area to be tiled. Measuring the area that needs to be tiled to determine stock requirements and providing accurate quotes for the intended job​​.
3. Preparation and Surface Treatment: Removing existing materials from floors, walls, or other surfaces and cleaning and levelling the surface to be covered. Preparing work areas on floors and walls by removing old tiles, adhesive, and grout; filling gaps, cracks, and holes; and ensuring all surfaces are clean​​.
4. Material Selection and Procurement: Knowing how to Pick suitable tiles according to clients’ needs and budgets, ordering stock supplies, and gathering tiling equipment​​.
5. Tile Laying and Finishing: Laying and grouting tiles evenly and cleanly, arranging materials according to design plans, and securing them with adhesives, nails, or staples​​. Waterproofing tiles with specialized products and techniques and cutting tiles to the correct size and shape​​.
6. Coordination with Other Tradespeople: Working alongside other tradespeople to ensure the tiling work is integrated well with other aspects of the construction or renovation project​​.

Hourly rate: $25 - $35, based on experience and expertise. Location: HAMILTON and TAURANGA Minimum guaranteed hours: 30 hours per week, full-time permanent.

Qualifications and Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in tiling Bonus - a related field or relevant qualification equal to NZQF level 4 or higher. Knowledge of different types of tiles, adhesives, and grout. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Mature attitude and respectful demeanour, good communication and customer service skills. Attention to detail and ability to work to a high standard of precision. Candidates must be able to provide evidence of a drug-free status. Drug testing will be conducted prior to employment and may be conducted during the employment period.
