We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong painting and decorating background to join our team and help deliver outstanding projects while supporting our continued growth.
As part of the senior team, you will be empowered with strong business systems that provide timely management information to support quality decision making. You will also work with the wider team to identify opportunities and build long-term relationships with homeowners who value PBF’s full-service offering.
The Role This role is responsible for managing residential painting and decorating projects from start to finish, ensuring quality workmanship, strong client relationships, and efficient team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project scope, documentation, and budgets
- Coordinate and supervise painting teams and subcontractors
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Work with other trades including builders, roofers, and scaffold companies
- Oversee health and safety compliance on site
- Manage staff timesheets and project documentation
- Assist with site assessments and project quoting
- Mentor team members and support training and development
- Resolve issues with clients, staff, and project stakeholders
About You You are an experienced Painter and Decorator who enjoys leading teams and delivering excellent client outcomes.
You will ideally have:
- Significant experience in the painting and decorating industry
- Master Painter experience or a recognised qualification (preferred)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Excellent organisational and time management ability
- Experience managing staff and coordinating projects
- A strong Health & Safety culture
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Confidence working with diverse clients and teams
Essential Requirements
- Right to work in New Zealand (Citizen or Resident)
- Full driver’s licence
- Clean record
- Auckland based (Central Auckland preferred)
- Strong written and spoken English
- Professional presentation and client-facing communication
- NZ working experience
- Physically fit and comfortable working on sites including: o Lifting materials o Working on scaffolding o Working at heights
Technical & Administrative Skills
- Confident using technology including: o Phone, email, and calendar systems o Word and Excel o Photo and file documentation
- Ability to manage: o Staff timesheets o Health & safety documentation o Project variations and expenses
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Plastering or building experience
- Paint spraying experience
- Working at Heights certification
- Relevant trade qualifications
- Medical certificate
