Painting Trades Worker required all throughout the Southland region!
OneStaff is currently seeking experienced and reliable Painting Trades Workers to join our growing team. This is a full-time permanent position with guaranteed minimum hours, offering the opportunity to work on a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial projects across New Zealand.
We are looking for motivated individuals with a strong work ethic, excellent time management skills, and a strong commitment to health and safety on site. Flexibility to travel and work across multiple regions throughout New Zealand is essential.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and operating equipment such as ladders and scaffolding
- Protecting fixtures and surfaces prior to painting
- Preparing walls and surfaces by scraping, sanding, washing, filling holes and cracks, removing old paint, vacuuming, and sweeping
- Sandblasting and water blasting concrete and metal surfaces
- Reading plans and instructions to determine material and tool requirements
- Applying sealers and solvents to plaster, concrete, and timber surfaces
- Repairing chips, holes, and cracks to ensure smooth and sealed surfaces
- Preparing and mixing paints, coatings, and additives as required
- Applying paint, plaster, epoxy, polyurethane, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
- Carrying out plaster repairs and minor window repairs where required
- Maintaining clean and safe workspaces, tools, and equipment
- Following workplace health and safety procedures at all times
- Performing general labouring tasks as assigned role associated labour (i.e. cleaning, labour, maintenance) relating to core visa duties at assigned work sites
- Other duties assigned by supervisor
Pay and Hours
- Pay rate between $30.00 and $35.00 per hour depending on experience
- Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week
Skills and Experience Required
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of 2.5 years’ relevant painting experience, OR
- A relevant painting qualification or equivalent
Successful applicants will also demonstrate:
- Good practical painting skills and industry knowledge
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Good communication and time management skills
- Commitment to workplace health and safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work at various locations across New Zealand
Location
Work may be required across multiple regions throughout New Zealand, including Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Nelson-Tasman, Marlborough, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.

- New Zealand Citizens or Residents, OR
- Hold a valid New Zealand work visa
