This is a newly created role within a well-established plumbing business in Hawke’s Bay and a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building win-win relationships with prospective and existing clients and growing business.
We’re are looking for a motivated, results-focused Business Development Manager to join our team. This full-time role is a mix of face to face meetings with clients, strengthening existing relationships, and tendering for new work. If you already have strong connections in the plumbing and wider building industry locally, you’ll be able to hit the ground running.
You’ll have real ownership of this role from day one. While you’ll work independently, you’ll also stay closely connected with the Managing Director through regular day-to-day contact and support. Success in this role comes from growing the business, spotting opportunities, and building long-term, trusted relationships with our customers.
What you’ll be doing
- Growing the business across the Hawke’s Bay region
- Building and maintaining a strong network of industry contacts
- Identifying new opportunities, markets, and growth projects
- Meeting with prospective clients (around 15 face-to-face meetings per week)
- Preparing sales forecasts and revenue projections
- Promoting our services and understanding and anticipating client needs
- Managing tenders and negotiating commercial agreements
- Keeping accurate records of client interactions, sales activity, and revenue
- Providing honest advice, follow-up, and after-sales support
- Developing long-term, value-adding relationships with customers
About you
- Proven experience in the plumbing and building sector
- Ideally a NZ-qualified plumber/drainlayer with a current licence
- Confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working autonomously
- Commercially savvy, with experience in forecasting and reporting
- A strategic thinker who enjoys delivering results
