This is a rare opportunity to join a respected plumbing contractor in Queenstown as a Junior Quantity Surveyor. They deliver commercial and industrial projects across the region and provide a genuinely supportive place for qualified tradies wanting to step off the tools and grow their career.
About the Role: As a Junior QS, you'll bring your trade knowledge into an estimating and project support role, helping the team price and manage complex commercial installs. You'll work alongside the Senior QS and PMs, gaining hands-on training as you develop your skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pricing and tender preparation for commercial/industrial jobs
- Reviewing drawings and identifying materials, fixtures, and labour needs
- Assisting with variations, progress claims, and cost tracking
- Helping with reporting, budgets, and forecasting
- Visiting sites to understand project progress and challenges
- Learning how commercial projects are managed from start to finish
If you enjoy the technical side of the trades, this role lets you use that knowledge every day - without lifting a wrench.
What you'll bring:
- NZ trade qualification (plumbing would be advantageous)
- Strong understanding of commercial installs and how projects run
- Ability to read drawings and interpret plans
- Good communication and organisational skills
- A willingness to learn and grow into a professional QS role
- An interest in the commercial side of the industry
