About the role: We are seeking applicants for 3 reliable, professional, trusted Security Officers/ Bus Transit Officers, who take pride in protecting people and the wider community., to join our Tauranga team of dedicated security personnel.
This role offers a meaningful way to make a difference every day. You’ll be responsible for promoting a safe, respectful, and positive environment across the Tauranga public transport network. You’ll be a visible and approachable presence, across the network, engage with passengers, monitor activity, and respond appropriately to incidents or emerging issues.
The role contributes directly to the safety, reputation, and operational success of the regional transport system.
Hours for the role are between 1:00PM – 9:00PM.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Providing a friendly, confident presence across the bus network
- Supporting passenger safety and comfort
- Engaging respectfully with people from all walks of life
- Monitoring activity and identifying potential issues early
- Responding calmly and professionally to incidents or concerns
- Representing and be the professional face of Armourguard and the Tauranga City Council with pride
- Enjoy a role that values professionalism, integrity, and teamwork

- Respond to incidents and emergencies professionally
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in security, customer service or service-oriented role.
- Articulate with strong written and spoken English skills, including clear communication and accurate incident reporting.
- Confident in engagement with people from all backgrounds, creating positive and respectful interactions
- Calm and steady de-escalation skills to manage situations professionally
- Reliable and trustworthy with strong integrity and a solid work ethic
- Good situational awareness and sound judgement in dynamic environments
- Physically fit and community minded with a genuine desire to support and help others
What You’ll Need To progress through the recruitment process, you must consent to and be able to satisfy pre-employment checks, including:
- Driver’s License, Credit Checks, Ministry of Justice Criminal History and Immigration checks.
- Eligible to work in New Zealand and currently reside in the Tauranga region
- Hold or has the ability to obtain a current Certificate of Approval (COA)
