About the role: We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Animal Management Officer or a highly motivated individual with strong communication and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responding to service requests and complaints in line with legislative and bylaw requirements
- Investigating complaints and preparing written reports
- Undertake compliance/ enforcement actions including, impounding dogs, property inspections, infringements
- Handling dogs and livestock
- Educating the public on responsible pet ownership and animal safety
Mandatory Requirements: To progress through the recruitment process, you must consent to and be able to satisfy pre-employment checks, including:
- Currently reside in the Whangarei region
- Hold a current Certificate of Approval (COA) or ability to obtain one
- Hold a Full NZ Driver’s License
- Be flexible with working hours, including nights and weekends]
- Be confident working independently and within a team
- Have strong spoken and written English communication skills
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Dog handling experience and knowledge of animal behaviour
- First Aid Certificate
- NZ Certificate in Regulatory Compliance (Core Knowledge) (Level 3) preferred.
- Previous experience liaising with SPCA, NZ Police, DOC, community groups, and local Iwi
