Description
This role requires a minimum of 3 years experience in an operational Locksmith role.
A relevant NZQA 4 NZQA or equivalent qualification is required.
Duties and roles include:
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship at all times
- Cutting of all keys, whether to sample, code or lock
- Designing of master key systems, cutting keys, servicing, and recording all information relating to installation
- Attending to retail sales and customer service
- Maintaining adequate levels of key blanks and general stock on display in retail shop and/or van
- Occasional answering of phones, while in van or shop
- Performing all lock installations and field service as required
- Undertaking field surveys and providing security advice to customers as required
- Ensuring cleanliness and tidiness of each job and the maintenance of customer goodwill in the field
- Charging of jobs on completion.
- Providing technical advice and assistance to other staff members when requested
- Purchasing items of stock required for the performance of his/her duties with an official order number from the office, to be charged to the company’s account
- Service a wide range of Security Systems
- Install Security Systems to a high standard, both residential and commercial
- Read detailed architectural plans and have a good knowledge of building construction.
- The ability to communicate well with customers
- The ability to properly use a multi-meter and other measuring tools to ascertain shorts, opens, drops, etc...
- An ability to calculate voltage drops, polarity and battery backup related to power supplies.
- Ability to properly install all components related to Access Control and Security Systems.
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship at all times

- Performing all alarm installations and field service as required
- Undertaking field surveys and providing security advice to customers as required
- Ensuring cleanliness and tidiness of each job and the maintenance of customer goodwill in the field
- Charging of jobs on completion, whether cash or invoice
- Providing technical advice and assistance to other staff members when requested
- Purchasing items of stock required for the performance of his/her duties with an official order number from the office, to be charged to the company’s account
- Ensuring cleanliness of the van and bringing any items requiring service/ maintenance to the attention of the Manager
- Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the retail shop, workshop, office and staff areas of the building
- Attending to after-hour callouts on a rostered basis
- Carrying out reasonable instructions of the Manager
The minimum wage for this role is $30 per hour. The maximum wage is $35 per hour. You will be guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week. Generally the days of work will be Monday to Friday, however there will also be a requirement to work after hours/weekends/on call. The remuneration will be increased to reflect working outside the minimum hours.
