We are a leading and passionate crushing and aggregate supply company, operating quarries, excavation equipment, mobile crushing plant, with our own trucking fleet and ready-mix concrete business.
THE POSITION We’re excited to offer an opportunity for a motivated Apprentice Heavy Diesel Plant & Equipment Mechanic to join our well-established and supportive workshop team. This role is ideal for someone eager to build a long-term career, learn from experienced tradespeople, and take pride in delivering quality workmanship.
What will set you up for success (advantageous but not essential):
- Pre-trade qualification
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or experience
- Relevant hands-on work experience
While our preference is a new-start apprentice, we’re open to considering apprentices at various stages of their training who are looking for the right team to grow with. In-person interviews are required.
You’ll be someone who brings enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to learn. You’ll enjoy being part of a team, take ownership of your work, and be self-driven and motivated—above all, you’ll have pride in producing high-quality results every day.
We have a varied fleet of Mack, Volvo and Hino trucks, alongside a fleet of Cat and Volvo loaders and diggers. The role would include both workshop and field service repair work.

This position is based in our Wards Road Quarry in Rolleston.

The successful candidate will be required to comply with Road Metals Health and Safety policies including a satisfactory pre-employment medical and drug test, criminal history check and hold a current drivers licence.
