Service Technician

Description

About the Company:

This is a long-established, family-owned New Zealand business with 25+ years' experience delivering commercial automated door solutions nationwide. The company is well regarded for its technical capability, consistent service delivery, and long-standing client relationships across commercial and industrial environments.

With sustained growth, the business is investing in its operation and is seeking an experienced, technically capable technician who understands the region and can operate confidently in the field.

The Role:

This is a hands-on technician role focused on the maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and installation of commercial automated door systems.

You will be trusted to work largely autonomously, manage your own workload, and engage directly with clients on-site. This role suits someone with a solid trade or industrial background who is comfortable making sound technical decisions and representing the business professionally.

The role covers Whangarei and the wider Northland region, working Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required to support critical client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, service, repair, and install commercial automated door systems
  • Advanced fault-finding across mechanical and electrical components
  • Carry out preventative maintenance to a high technical and safety standard
  • Liaise directly with clients, providing clear advice and practical solutions
  • Manage jobs independently, including reporting and communication with the wider team
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety, workmanship, and site presentation

What's on Offer:

  • Competitive rates aligned to experience and technical skill
  • Ongoing, stable work with a respected and established business
  • Monday - Friday role supporting a healthy work-life balance
  • Birthday leave
  • Strong operational and technical support from an experienced team

About You:

This role is not suitable for junior or entry-level candidates. We are seeking an experienced tradesperson who can hit the ground running.

You will bring:

  • Several years' experience in a mechanical, electrical, or industrial service trade
  • Strong electrical fault-finding capability
  • A current electrical practising licence (highly advantageous)
  • Proven ability to work independently in a field-based role
  • Solid knowledge of the Northland region, including Whangarei and surrounding areas
  • A professional, client-focused approach with strong communication skills
  • A consistent work history demonstrating reliability and technical competence
  • Strong commitment to health & safety and quality outcomes
  • NZ Full Class 1 Driver Licence (manual and automatic)

How to Apply:

Apply online with your up-to-date CV.

Applicants must:

  • Be currently based in New Zealand
  • Hold full working rights
  • Be able to pass pre-employment drug and criminal checks
