ABOUT THE ROLE - NGĀ ĀHUATANGA O TE TŪRANGA
In this role, you will help ensure our wastewater treatment plants and land disposal sites operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with resource consent requirements.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Operating WWTPs and Land Disposal Systems in line with procedures, consent conditions, and on‑call requirements
- Carrying out operational checks, sampling, laboratory testing, and maintaining accurate operational records
- Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on pumps, plant equipment, and effluent disposal systems
- Making operational adjustments to optimise plant performance in response to changing process conditions, loading, environmental factors, and compliance requirements
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR - KEI TE KIMI MĀTOU I TĒNEI MOMO TANGATA
We're looking for someone who brings the right mix of technical ability, practical experience, and a positive, team‑focused attitude, with a proactive approach to identifying and managing operational risk.
We're seeking someone who:
- Brings a minimum of 3 years' experience in operations and takes personal ownership of plant performance and outcomes
- Applies sound analytical thinking to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve faults rather than waiting for direction
- Self-motivated and reliable, able to manage workload and priorities without constant supervision
- Takes pride in the condition, presentation, and documentation of their work and work environment
- Builds positive working relationships, contributes to team success, while being confident to step up and lead when required
- Ideally has experience operating a wastewater treatment plant and working within Council compliance requirements
- Holds (or is working towards) a National Certificate in Wastewater Treatment, with a National Diploma considered an advantage
