About the opportunity
Join a well-established transport company and take the next step in your driving career. These roles offer the chance to grow into a regular driving position and progress your licence class over time.
What's on offer:
- Class 4: $26-$28/hr starting rate
- Class 5: $30hr starting rate
- Day shift: Start between 5-6am, finish between 4-7pm
- Monday to Friday only - no weekend work
- Curtain sider driving - 95% palletised freight
- Metro deliveries + some Waikato & BOP runs
- All freight in and out of depot (no point-to-point work)
- Mostly clean freight with minimal hand unloading
- Free on-site parking
- Ongoing training & support for licence progression
- Clean, modern and well-maintained fleet
What you'll be doing:
- Complete local and regional deliveries safely and on time
- Assist with loading and unloading palletised freight
- Maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation
- Support general yard operations between runs
- Contribute to a tidy, efficient, and safe working environment
New drivers will begin in a support role, working as an assistant driver or 'floater'. You'll carry out yard duties between set deliveries, helping you learn the operation end-to-end before moving into your own truck as routes become available.
What You'll Bring
- Solid work ethic, reliable and punctual (100% attendance is a must)
- Minimum Class 4 licence
- Forklift (OSH) licence - advantageous
- DG endorsement - advantageous
- Physically fit for occasional manual handling
- Strong communication skills - good written and spoken English
- Safety-focused and conscientious
- Willingness to learn and grow within the business
Nice to have:
- Experience in delivery driving (metro or regional)
- Experience in a transport or 3PL environment
- Positive, can-do attitude
