Job Title: Yard Person

Location: Christchurch

Hours: Full-time, 5 days per week, 41.5 hours

BBS Timbers is a leading supplier of premium timber products in New Zealand, serving a wide range of customers in the construction, architecture, joinery, and boat-building sectors.

Established for over 35 years, we have built a strong reputation for delivering quality products and service.

Whangarei is our head office where imported timber is received, machined and then distributed to our other centres in Auckland and Christchurch. Christchurch is an important hub servicing the South Island and we need your help!

We are currently looking for a motivated and hardworking Yard Person withtimber experienceto join our team.

As a Yard Person, you will play a key role in the smooth operation of our Christchurch timber yard, ensuring products are accurately handled, stored, and dispatched while maintaining a safe and organised work environment. A current forklift license would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

• Safely load and unload timber products using forklifts or manual handling techniques.
• Accurately pick and prepare customer orders for delivery.
• Ensure all timber products are properly stored and labelled in the yard.
• Maintain accurate and up to date paper work.
• Maintain a clean and organised yard, adhering to health and safety standards.
• Perform general yard duties to support smooth daily operations.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Prior experience in a timber yard, cabinetmaking or joinery role.
• A strong commitment to health and safety practices (a drug test prior to employment will be required).
• Ability to operate a forklift (preferable with a current forklift licence, or willingness to obtain one).
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Physically fit and capable of heavy lifting.
• Good communication skills and a customer-friendly attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
