Tired of routine workshop work? Step up into specialised heavy equipment.

We’re looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team working on Hammar sideloaders and heavy transport equipment.

This is a hands-on, technical role where no two days are the same. You’ll be troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on industry-leading equipment.

If you enjoy fault-finding, problem-solving, and working on serious machinery, this is the role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Service and maintain Hammar sideloaders and associated heavy equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
  • Remove, strip, repair, and reseal hydraulic cylinders and pumps
  • Carry out COF (Certificate of Fitness) inspections, repairs, and preparation
  • Brake system servicing and repairs
  • Suspension maintenance and repairs
  • Diesel engine servicing, diagnostics, and repair work
  • Preventative maintenance and breakdown response
  • Complete accurate job records and documentation
  • Work safely and maintain high workmanship standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic (or strong relevant experience)
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Solid electrical understanding (essential)
  • Good knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Experience working on heavy vehicles or similar equipment
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of jobs

Bonus Skills (Highly Valued)

  • Welding and fabrication ability
  • Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Experience with container handling equipment or similar machinery

Eligibility Must be a New Zealand Citizen or Resident
