Join our Masterton Team as a Foreman/Excavator Operator on the Raumahunga Roads Maintenance Contract.
In this dual role, you'll be responsible for overseeing a variety of tasks such as routine road maintenance, drainage works, vegetation management, pavement repairs, and the installation and upkeep of signs and road markings.
As Foreman you will lead your crew to deliver work on time, within budget, safely, and to the highest quality standard. You will be responsible for the running of day-to-day operations and the coordination of all employees, plant resources, and subcontract personnel in your area of control.
In addition to leadership duties, you will also operate excavators on site. This includes carrying out earthworks, trenching, loading trucks, site preparation, and other tasks as required. You'll be accountable for the safe and efficient use of excavation machinery ensuring all work is performed according to project specifications and safety regulations.
Your role combines hands-on machinery operation with team leadership, making you central to achieving project success.
In a****ddition to the above you will:
* Compete all documentation required for the role including time sheets, daily job sheets, pre start inspections, plant usage sheets, quality checklists, hazard IDs
* Ensure clear communication with project managers, clients and staff to report progress, resolve issues and assist with planning
* Monitor plant maintenance including log books and servicing
* Ensure machinery checks (eg: tyres, oil and grease, plant pre start) are completed and necessary maintenance completed before machinery is operated.
* Hold pre start meetings and make sure all safety, environment and quality processes for the job are followed

We're looking for someone with:
* Full class 4 licence
* Current Wheels, Tracks and Rollers endorsements
* Previous Foreman experience in civil construction
* Proven experience in operating excavators and other associated plant, including earthworks, site preparation and trenching
* Experience in running a crew, including directing staff, plant resources and subbies
