Description
Why Apply
Tired of the same NZ civil sites paying the same average rates? This is a chance to earn serious money operating real plant on infrastructure projects in the NT, with your accommodation and vehicle covered on top.
- Earn $45.67 to $64.91/hr plus super, working 60 to 70 hours a week across a 6-day roster. Your take-home adds up fast.
- Accommodation and a vehicle are both provided. No rent to sort, no car to worry about. More of your pay stays in your pocket.
- Work across excavators, loaders, skid steers, rollers, graders, and water carts on earthworks, drainage, roadworks, and real civil infrastructure.
- Build experience across a wide variety of plant and civil disciplines. The more machines you can operate, the more valuable you become.
- Join a crew with a solid pipeline of NT projects. This is not a short-term contract. There is ongoing work here for the right operator.
The Role
You will be operating civil construction plant across a range of projects in and around Alice Springs. The work is hands-on, varied, and out in the open. No two days are the same.
- Operating excavators, loaders, skid steers, rollers, graders, and water carts
- Carrying out excavation, trenching, backfilling, bulk earthworks, and final trim
- Working to set levels and grades using plans, string lines, lasers, and GPS
- Trenching for stormwater, drainage, electrical, and communications services
- Assisting with lifting and placing pipes, pits, kerbs, and other infrastructure
- Conducting daily pre-start checks and keeping plant logbooks up to date
- Working closely with supervisors, engineers, and other operators on site
- Maintaining a safe worksite and following SWMS and site safety plans
What We Need
- Proven experience operating plant in a civil construction environment
- Valid driver licence (non-negotiable)
- Relevant plant tickets or VOCs across excavator, loader, skid steer, roller, or grader
- Experience with trenching, drainage, and bulk earthworks
- Willingness to relocate to Alice Springs and commit to 6-day, 60 to 70-hour weeks
Why This Role
The rates here are well above what most civil operators are earning back home, and with accommodation and a vehicle included your costs are minimal. You will get exposure to a broad range of plant and civil work that keeps your skills sharp and your options open. If you want a couple of years that actually set you up financially, this is worth the move.
