Civil Operative Looking for steady, long-term work in Christchurch’s civil construction sector? We’re seeking a reliable Civil Operative with solid industry experience to join a hardworking crew on varied civil sites across Central Christchurch. If you’re someone who’s not afraid to get stuck in and labour alongside the team, this could be the role for you.
Location: Central Christchurch Start date: Immediate start available Pay rate: $30–35 per hour (paid weekly, experience dependent)
About the role: You’ll be part of a civil construction team working on projects such as subdivisions, drainage, roadworks, and infrastructure development. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be expected to assist the crew with labouring tasks and help keep sites running smoothly.
Your duties will include:
- Assisting with trenching, digging, and backfilling
- Supporting drainage and underground services installation
- Operating hand tools and small equipment
- General civil labouring and site preparation
- Working alongside operators, drivers, and supervisors on site
- Following health & safety procedures on active civil sites
To be successful, you’ll need:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in civil construction
- Full Class 1 driver’s licence (required)
- Willingness to get stuck in and labour when needed
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
- Reliable transport and strong work ethic
- Good attitude and ability to work well within a team
- Site Safe is beneficial but not essential
