We're looking for an experienced Operator to join our West Coast IDC team to support the continuous delivery of good work across the West Coast network. This is a hands-on role supporting the safe and reliable delivery of infrastructure and maintenance works across the region. You'll be part of a crew that backs each other, takes pride in doing Good Work, and knows when to switch on and deliver to a high standard.
The West Coast IDC contract involves roading maintenance, renewals and operational work for 870kms of state highways within the district, stretching from Haast in the south to Mokihinui in the north, and across to the main divide of the Southern Alps.
Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
- Operate plant, machinery, and equipment safely and efficiently across IDC contract works.
- Support day-to-day maintenance, construction, and operational activities on sites across the West Coast.
- Complete pre-start checks, basic maintenance, and housekeeping of plant and equipment.
- Work closely with site crews and supervisors to deliver work on time, to specification, and to a high safety standard.
- Identify hazards, follow site controls, and contribute to a strong safety and wellbeing culture.

- Experience operating plant and machinery in a similar maintenance-based role.
- Class 2 Licence and WTR endorsements.
- Confidence working outdoors in varying weather conditions, across different work sites on the West Coast.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality, and doing the job right the first time.
- A reliable, team-focused approach and the ability to carry out the inherent requirements of the role.
