The role
Our client builds utility scale solar farms. We are seeking a true construction manager to manage the build process. The role will require you to be away from home during the week as sites are typically off the beaten track. In this fast-paced sector, the Construction Manager will take ownership of project delivery and oversee the necessary planning execution, organisation and monitoring of civil, mechanical, electrical activities for utility scale solar farms. You'll work closely with Site Managers, Foremen, and Project Leads to ensure site works, programmes, budgets, and compliance are on track.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll bring clarity, consistency, and accountability to the project. You will be comfortable working within a large-scale project and overseeing a high volume of assembly onsite and will be responsible for performing the necessary functions to achieve the project objectives.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the construction site on a day-to-day basis in coordination with Site Manager, including monitoring the labour force, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials with related departments.
- Overseeing and directing construction projects from conception to completion
- Overseeing all onsite constructions to monitor compliance with approved design, timelines, and safety regulations
- Promote and maintain health and safety, including site inspections to ensure safety rules are being followed
- Be client facing to resolve problems and provide updates
- Responsible for monitoring subcontractor activities
- Drive the program for mechanical, electrical and civil on site
- Review, plan and oversee construction across multiple sites
You will be / have:
- Previously held Construction Manager role within the commercial construction industry or renewable sector.
- Sound understanding of all facets of the construction process and be well versed in New Zealand construction law, risk mitigation and be commercially savvy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience in coaching and developing your teams.
- Be customer centric in your approach.
- be organised and a planner by nature with a keen eye for detail and presentation.
- Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
