We're partnering with a highly respected New Zealand civil engineering contractor to find an experienced and motivated Project Manager for a large-scale infrastructure project in Fiji. They are renowned for their technical expertise practical capability and reliable delivery. From concept to final delivery, they tackle challenging projects requiring precision & technical know-how. With a strong history in excellence, they are setting the bar high across industry standards. As their presence in the Pacific grows, they are looking for experienced Project Managers to help lead key projects in this evolving region.
THE OPPORTUNITY: Our client is seeking to fill two key Project Management roles to oversee major infrastructure programs in the Pacific. These roles will focus on high-priority national projects, directly contributing to the region's social and economic development. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project Leadership: Lead project teams and manage subcontractors from tender through to commissioning and handover.
- Commercial Management: Lead the preparation of progress claims, cost reports, and programme updates, actively driving continual improvement in commercial outcomes.
- Client Liaison: Coordinate with on-site and offsite client representatives, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
- Project Coordination: Oversee all aspects of project delivery, ensuring safety, timeliness, and adherence to specifications.
- Complexity Management: Navigate project complexities, particularly in remote environments, and manage project interfaces effectively.
- Reporting & Communication: Prepare progress reports and updates to keep stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the project.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects, with a background in civil engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of project management experience, ideally on projects exceeding $20M.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing project teams, subcontractors, and client relations.
- Excellent communication abilities, including report writing and correspondence.
- A self-motivated, proactive approach and the ability to work independently.
- Experience leading diverse teams in remote locations.
- A demonstrated ability to develop cost effective, practical engineering construction solutions for our clients.
- A relevant engineering or project management qualification.
- Experience in the Pacific region, preferably Fiji or the Solomon Islands.
- Familiarity with water treatment plant or power transmission construction, as well as FIDIC contracts.
- A strong cultural fit with a New Zealand construction business.
WORK LOCATION: These roles can be offered on either a FIFO (Fly-In/Fly-Out) or residential basis, depending on what best suits your lifestyle and experience. Both options allow you to be part of fast-paced, meaningful work while enjoying the unique experience of living and working in the Pacific.
