About
We're seeking an experienced Site Manager / Assistant Project Manager to support a major, high-profile construction project in Hastings. This is a site-based role where you'll be the key point of contact on the ground, ensuring the project runs smoothly day to day.
Currently, senior leadership is managing issues remotely, so this role is all about having a capable, calm, and solutions-focused person on site who can see what's happening in real time and take action.
There is potential for a permanent role for the right long-term fit. This project is seen as a test run, with plans to replicate this structure on future projects nationwide if successful.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day site supervision and coordination
- Liaising with subcontractors and main contractor teams (including large commercial operators)
- Running daily toolbox talks and maintaining strong site communication
- Identifying issues early and ensuring they're resolved efficiently
- Coordinating works, sequencing, and access with multiple stakeholders
- Providing clear, practical updates and escalating risks as required
Experience
- Previous experience working for a fire protection or services contractor (advantageous but not essential)
- OR experience as a Leading Hand, LBP, or Supervisor on commercial projects
- Proven experience coordinating subcontractors or large site teams
- A collaborative leadership style, confident delegating without being authoritarian
- Clear communication skills and a calm, level-headed approach under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills and a "no surprises" mindset
