About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Communication Technician to support the delivery, maintenance, and optimisation of critical communications systems within the electricity distribution environment. This role works closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and field teams to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable communications infrastructure that supports network operations.
Role Responsibilities:
The role is responsible for planning, delivering, and monitoring works safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. This includes completing WTC competency assessments across people, plant, equipment, and site activities, carrying out competent audits and quality checks, and ensuring all plant and equipment are compliant, in test, fit for purpose, and maintained in good working order. The role also requires the accurate completion of reports, working closely with management to agree job objectives, effectively scoping works, and identifying environmental, technical, and operational factors that may impact delivery. In addition, the role supports estimating activities to ensure works are correctly priced, allocates labour hours, plant, and equipment to the appropriate job or non-chargeable codes, and provides guidance on interpreting technical drawings and specifications. Clear communication of job methodologies and approaches to site teams is essential, along with actively seeking alternative ideas and methods to drive efficiency, cost savings, and continuous improvement, and communicating these improvements to the wider team as required.
Skills & Experience:
-Proven technical experience in the high voltage substation environment
-Proven experience of working in effective teams
-Ability to organise and plan own workload and the workload of others to achieve results
-Ability to deliver a high standard of technical service in the high voltage substation environment
-Provide technical excellence while always maintainingsafety, efficiency and quality standards
-A willingness to take the lead and ownership of all set tasks
-Provide support to your fellow team members through your knowledge and experience in the industry
-Provide technical input and scoping requirements to assist with the estimation of maintenance and capital works when requested
-Ability to deliver positive outcomes without compromising Health, Safety, Quality and the Environment (HSQE)
-Ability to pro-actively promote a safety culture in line with legislation and company procedures
-Computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel (as a minimum)
-Strong interpersonal skills preferably in a multi-cultural environment
