About Us:

Bathurst Resources is New Zealand’s largest specialist coal mine company. We produced over 2.2 million tonnes of coal each year and proudly employ over 550 people. About 80 percent of our production is used for steel making of which one third is used by a local Kiwi steel mill. Our high-quality, thermal-grade coals fuels are used to help drive the engines of many iconic South Island food and dairy businesses.

Our Maramarua Mine is an opencast mine which produces a low-ash, low sulphur thermal coal for the domestic market. We are located in the Waikato region 20km south of the Bombay’s (Auckland) or 50km from Thames (Coromandel) – you get to choose if you want the city life or the coast life.

This is a permanent, full-time position, reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent. The Workshop leading hand role is a challenging one and requires professional pride as our fleet of CAT haulage trucks, utility vehicles, earth moving equipment are maintained and repaired to a high standard. It’s a critical role, that all mining operations hinge from, so we need capable, motivated and professional hands on the tools.

We’re specifically looking for Senior Mechanics, with leading teams or are wanting to build your leadership skills. You’ll have at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience and enjoy working with others to solve problems.

To be successful in the role you must have:

*New Zealand Working Rights *A strong Health and Safety focus *Proven diagnostic skills on heavy equipment *Excellent attendance record *Experience in the Mining Industry (advantageous)
*Experience on our specific on-site equipment (advantageous)
*CAT Haul trucks 740, 777 *CAT D6 D8 D9 Dozers *CAT 16M Grader *CAT 966, 980 Loaders *Komatsu, CAT, Hitachi, Volvo excavators (PC1800, 1900, 1250) *Trades Qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic

This is a residential-based role. Candidates will be required to live locally or be willing to relocate. Relocation support is offered to the right candidate.
