Maintenance Engineer

A bit about your role

As the UHT Engineering Technician, you will help ensure the smooth and reliable operation of our UHT and RO plants by carrying out preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance across a wide range of industrial equipment. You will report directly to the UHT Maintenance Lead and work closely with production teams, contractors and the broader site maintenance group.

This role is hands-on and varied — you’ll be involved in equipment servicing, fault diagnostics, installations, and continuous improvement activities. You’ll also support inventory management for engineering parts, contribute to site reporting systems, and play a key role in maintaining our strong Health & Safety, Quality, and Food Safety culture. The position operates on a rotating shift roster, including call-outs as required.

A bit about you

You are someone who brings a proven background in mechanical or electrical trades, ideally gained within a manufacturing or processing environment. You’re confident working autonomously, yet collaborative by nature, and have a knack for spotting issues early and finding practical solutions.

You’re comfortable with diagnostics, enjoy hands-on technical work, and are proactive in maintaining high plant uptime. Experience with PLCs, automation systems, or aseptic packaging is beneficial, but more importantly, you bring energy, initiative, sound judgement and a commitment to doing the job right the first time. You communicate well, stay organised under pressure, and take pride in delivering high-standard work.

Pure Nutrition is a key part of Westland Milk Products’ UHT manufacturing operations, producing premium dairy and nutritional products for global markets. Based in Rolleston, this modern facility supports Yili Oceania’s vision of being a world-class health food provider.
