Job Title: Part-Time Supermarket Maintenance, Cleaning & Grounds Assistant
Hours: Part-time, flexible shifts available
About the Role:
Do you think of yourself as a bit of a Jack or Jill of all Trades?
We are on the lookout for an energetic and enthusiastic Maintenance, Cleaning & Grounds Assistant to support our busy supermarket. This is a hands-on role offering plenty of variety- no two days will be the same. You'll play a key part in keeping both our indoor and outdoor spaces clean, safe, and well-maintained.
You'll need to be able to work independently while also taking direction from the compliance Manager. Flexibility and a proactive attitude are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out general maintenance tasks (minor repairs, upkeep of fixtures and equipment)
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness across the store, including floors, surfaces, restrooms, and staff areas
- Perform garden and lawn maintenance (mowing, edging, weeding, basic landscaping)
- Keep outdoor areas, car parks, and entrances tidy and presentable
- Handle waste disposal and recycling
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report maintenance issues or safety hazards
- Assist with ad hoc duties across the store as required
What You'll Bring:
- The ability to use a variety of power tools and commercial floor cleaning machines confidently
- A "can-do" attitude with strong initiative
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet
- Reliability, punctuality, and self-motivation
- Strong communication skills
- Previous maintenance, cleaning, gardening, or trade experience (preferred but not essential)
- An understanding of Health & Safety practices
- Good organisation and time management skills
- A friendly and approachable manner when interacting with staff, customers, and contractors
- A good level of physical fitness
- A clean NZ driver's licence (preferred)
