We're recruiting a Maintenance Engineering Apprentice for a fantastic host company based in Linton, Palmerston North. Candidates with an interest in the pharmaceutical industry, a level 3 pre trade qualification in mechanical engineering and/or are part-way through an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering will be highly desireable. If successful, you'll be employed by ATNZ and placed with our host company, where you'll earn a real wage from day one while gaining hands-on experience and working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

What Does a Maintenance Engineering Apprentice Do?

Maintenance engineers keep machinery running reliably on the production line. You'll develop a planned, systematic approach to maintenance, working with computerised maintenance systems and condition monitoring, and building a wide variety of engineering skills along the way.

About the Host Company

Our host company is a well-established Palmerston North-based manufacturer with over 50 years of history, proudly ranked among New Zealand's top 500 companies. They specialise in the manufacture of pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates, supplying leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies across the globe, with more than 99% of their products exported internationally.

Based on the outskirts of Palmerston North, their modern facility sits within a thriving scientific hub close to one of New Zealand's leading agri-science universities. • Have you completed a pre trade course or are part way through an apprenticeship already?
  • Do you have experience in the trades / mechanical engineering industry?

**What are my study requirements? **

The study programme with ATNZ is fully supported system and will assist you to achieve the level four qualifications. ATNZ

The ATNZ story ATNZ was created as a trust in 1999 to provide dedicated and focused training for apprentices in the engineering and manufacturing industries.

From humble origins in Hawkes Bay, ATNZ expanded quickly to become a national organisation and is now New Zealand’s largest employer of apprentices in mechanical engineering and related industries. ATNZ employs over 370 apprentices throughout New Zealand, hosted by over 170 companies.

The passion and dedication of our Account Managers set ATNZ apart from other providers. Our approach is one of customised support and mentoring of our apprentices, which results in a higher completion rate, typically in a faster time.

Our company name is Apprentice Training New Zealand 2010 Trust. We trade under the name ATNZ.

PTE establishment ATNZ, formerly a subsidiary of the Competenz ITO, became a stand-alone Trust in 2021 due to the disestablishment of ITOs under the government’s reform of vocational education (RoVE).

In August 2022, ATNZ achieved NZQA registration as a PTE, which will commence operations in January 2023. This registration enables us to provide our apprenticeship programmes and other training to create a more robust, future focused workforce for the engineering and manufacturing sectors.

PTE registration also allows us to provide the industry with the flexibility of non-employed apprenticeships for an annual fee and our well-established hosting model. These two options, which both include customised apprentice mentoring and the development of better training materials, are tailored to produce better results for companies that want to invest in their people.
