We're seeking a motivated and experienced Health & Fitness Supervisor to join our Aquatics team. If you're passionate about ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality pool operations while leading a dedicated team, come contribute to the success of QLDC.
What you’ll be doing
Working closely with the Aquatics Manager, you’ll be supervising the day to day operations and ensuring the safety of QLDC facilities. You will be part of a small team responsible for the supervision of staff and ensuring all resources allocated to the area are used in the most efficient way.
*Managing rosters including operational management of staff leave requests and timesheet approval *Delivering on the job training, staff verification and staff assessment where possible as per industry standards. *Providing strong and effective supervision ensuring a clear direction in the area of aquatics and fitness services. *Ensuring that the facility complies with all Health & Safety obligations *Acting as the ‘first response’ in health and safety incidents
What you’ll bring to the role
You’ll have worked in a sports and recreation environment for at least 3 years and will have 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory role. You will be a confident, capable leader and a natural people person, you’ll enjoy working with a range of people and will build genuine relationships quickly.
A confident swimmer, you’ll have the ability to swim 200m continuously and competently in less than 6 minutes, ideally less than 4 minutes and 30 seconds. You’ll also be able to competently complete 25m sidestroke, 50m Breaststroke, 5 mins treading water and you must be able to recover an object from the deepest part of the facility. You’ll be able to carry out a variety of water rescues and life saving techniques correctly.
You’ll have:
*Level 4 NZQA qualifications in Sports & Recreation or equivalent *A current NZQA affiliated First Aid Certificate that meets the following U/S: Unit standards Group A (both of: 26551 & 25552) and/or unit standards group B (all of: 6400, 6401, 6402) *A current NZQA affiliated Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC) *The ability to carry out a variety of water rescues and life saving techniques correctly.

Salary range: $33.10–$35.20 per hour, commensurate with experience.
