Description

Care for our tāngata whaiora during the night across our Nelson based services Wed - Sat in this 6 month fixed term role.

The role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

  • Fixed term role until 28 November 2026 working 32 hours per week on our awake nights
  • Wednesday, Thursday , Friday and Saturday, 11pm - 7.30am. Theres no set location as you'll be working across our various services in Nelson.
  • Support individuals experiencing mental health distress by focusing on each individuals needs, utilise trauma informed care, provide culturally safe practice and role‑model and embed our values.
  • Complete relevant administrative tasks such as comprehensive notes and effective handover
  • While whai ora are sleeping you'll complete tasks such as cleaning and maintaining things like filing, first aid kits, emergency kits and preparation of paperwork. Once everythings completed you'll be able to study.

About You | Mōu

  • New Zealand Certificate (Level 4) in Health and Wellbeing (or a recognised equivalent).
  • A full New Zealand drivers licence
  • Hold a current comprehensive first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand. This role is not supported under the AEWV.

Te Ao Māori capability

  • Comfortable working within a Māori context, with familiarity in Te Reo Māori and tikanga
  • Committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice

  • You uphold the mana of tāngata whai ora and work in person‑centred, recovery‑focused ways with tāngata whai ora and whānau
  • Strong communication, time‑management and teamwork skills
  • Able to build positive relationships with funders, stakeholders and colleagues across service.
