About the Role
Our community dietetic team is seeking a capable, compassionate, and team-focused dietitian to join us in delivering highquality dietetic care to our adult population.
This role requires travel to rural hospital sites, outpatient clinics, community areas and home visits. The position is currently based at our Gallagher Community Base in Hamilton, but it may change depending on service needs.

Key responsibilities
- Provide evidencebased and specialised dietetic care to patients in inpatient and community settings, with a primary focus on community work.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their whanau, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Maori.
- Manage your caseload effectively in a busy and varied work environment.
- Share responsibility for triaging referrals for the community team.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and service development.
- Contribute to ongoing education, including supporting student placements and providing education to other professions.

About the Team/Service
Our dietetic team sits within the Allied Health Service. The team includes approximately thirty dietitians and four dietitian assistants working across acute, community, outpatient, and renal services. We cover a large geographical area, providing care at Waikato Hospital, a large tertiary teaching hospital, as well as our rural hospitals in Tokoroa, Taumarunui, Te Kuiti, and Thames.

Allied Health provides Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Language Therapy, Dietetics, Audiology Newborn Hearing Screening, Social Work, and Psychology services. Our staff work in partnership with individuals and their whanau to support a smooth journey through the healthcare system.
About you
As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes.
- Registration with the New Zealand Dietitians Board and a current Annual Practising Certificate (or in progress), including Dietitian Prescriber status.
- A commitment to excellent health outcomes and empathetic patient care.
- The ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A full, clean New Zealand drivers licence.
- Cultural competence and a commitment to cultural safety and equity, including:
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in healthcare.
- Awareness of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches or a willingness to learn.
