Description

You can help bring our villages to life!

At Summerset, from the moment we start developing a village, to when our residents call it home, it’s the passion and dedication of our people that brings our villages to life. We are one team united by being part of something bigger – to bring the best of life to our residents.

About the role:

A Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant at Summerset is more than just a cleaner. You're a quiet hero behind the scenes — keeping our village fresh, homely, and dignified for the people who live here.

We’re looking for a hardworking, caring Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming St Johns village team. This role is all about making sure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home.

As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you'll be a key part of creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and fellow team members.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
  • Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care and attention
  • Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
  • Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
  • Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

This is a casual role, working on an as and when basis.

About you:

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • You have experience in housekeeping ideally in healthcare or hopsiatlity
  • Take pride in your work and care about the small details
  • Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet
  • Have a genuine interest in aged care (no experience necessary — full training provided)

At Summerset, we believe diversity strengthens our team and enriches the care we provide. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life—including those with transferable skills from other industries. You may not tick all the requirements, and that’s okay; we value what you bring to the table and look at the whole individual. We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported to thrive.

Equal opportunity is at the heart of how we recruit, and we encourage you to bring your unique perspective and passion to our team.

Additional information:

Summerset's known for its excellent benefits and strong sense of values around care, teamwork and drive for excellence. With some of the best benefits in the sector, some of these include:

  • Weekend pay rates: An additional 40% on your hourly wage
  • Time and a half: For any shift over 8 hours in a day
  • A supportive team culture where you’re truly valued
  • Career development opportunities across aged care, hospitality, wellness and more

Next Steps: Applications for this role will close on Thursday 30th October. This role may close early due to an increased number of applications - apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!
