He angitūtanga | The Opportunity As a Catering Assistant at the University of Wellington, you will support daily food service operations by helping prepare, present, and serve meals to customers. You’ll play an important role in delivering a high‑quality catering service while working safely, maintaining cleanliness, and providing friendly and professional customer service. This is a Casual Position where hours of work are on " as an when" required basis upon business needs. Therefore, you MUST be available during weekends.

Ko ō kawenga | Your Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, portioning, plating, and adherence to the site food safety plan.
• Deliver warm, friendly customer service and respond to customer requests promptly.
• Maintain clean and tidy dining, kitchen, and public areas including equipment and waste handling.
• Receive and rotate stock, replenish supplies, and follow routine instructions accurately.
• Work effectively within a team, follow company procedures, and assist with dishwashing and general duties.

He kōrero mōu | About You

• A team player who can also work independently with a positive, can‑do attitude.
• Physically fit, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced food service environment.
• Strong communication skills with a friendly and professional approach to customers.
• Flexible and hardworking, with availability to work rostered shifts.
• Experience in a similar catering or hospitality role is an advantage but not essential.
