Listing Description
Description
We're looking for a qualified Machinist to join our workshop team in Gisborne. You'll be doing precision machining work on hydraulic cylinders, rotating equipment and a wide range of general engineering projects in a busy, well-equipped shop.
This is hands-on, custom work – no production lines here. You'll work alongside hydraulic techs, welders and engineers, turning out quality components for customers across agriculture, forestry, marine, industrial and infrastructure sectors.
About you
You'll need:
- At least 3 years' machining experience in an engineering workshop
- A trade qualification in machining or fitting/turning (preferred, but we'll consider strong experience)
- Solid skills on manual lathes, mills and workshop machinery – safe setup, operation and basic servicing
- Good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and efficiently
- Decent job recording and timekeeping (so we can cost and invoice work properly)
- Problem-solving ability and the confidence to work independently when needed
- A positive attitude, good communication and team-player approach
- Current NZ work rights (citizen, resident or valid work visa)
What's in it for you
- Excellent pay based on your experience
- Modern, well-equipped workshop with varied and interesting work
- Supportive team and a great workshop vibe
- Family-owned business – staff events, strong safety culture, down-to-earth approach
- Immediate start available (but we're happy to wait for the right person)
