A well-established food manufacturing business in Maketu, Bay of Plenty is looking for a hands-on Baker** to join their production team.
This role suits someone who enjoys working with set recipes, commercial bakery equipment, and being part of a fast-paced production environment where consistency and quality matter.
About the role:
You'll be responsible for preparing and baking pastry and dough products at scale, working alongside a supportive production team to meet daily output and quality standards.
What you'll be doing:
- Preparing doughs, mixes, fillings, and pastry according to set recipes and batch specifications.
- Operating commercial mixers, ovens, proofers, sheeters, and other bakery equipment
- Monitoring baking times, temperatures, and product quality across production runs
- Following strict food safety, hygiene, and allergen protocols (HACCP, GMP, MPI requirements)
- Completing production records and reporting any variances
- Working closely with the production team to meet daily output targets and minimise wastage
- Identifying and flagging issues with dough consistency, ingredients, or equipment
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment and work areas to required standards
- Assisting with stock rotation and checking ingredient availability
- Working safely in a warm, fast-paced, physically demanding environment
About you
- Commercial or production bakery experience
- Comfortable working with large batches and standardised recipes
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Physically fit and reliable, with a strong work ethic
- Able to work early starts and repetitive tasks
- A team player who takes pride in consistent output
