Fabrication Welder - Waihi
Full Time Permanent job in Waihi (and other locations as required) Hours: 40+ per week About the Role We're looking for skilled Fabrication Welders to join our engineering team in Waihi. You'll be responsible for welding, fabricating and repairing metal components, supporting the construction of drilling rigs, and helping create high quality metal products from blueprint to finished assembly. This is a hands on workshop based role working alongside experienced engineers and fabricators.
Key Responsibilities - Welding & Fabrication
- Fabricate and repair metal products by welding, cutting, shaping, rolling and assembling components.
- Fit, assemble and finish metal parts using welding, riveting, bolting, soldering or brazing.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and work plans.
- Measure, check and verify quality of fabricated parts.
Workshop Operations
- Select, prepare and maintain metal stock, tools and fabrication equipment.
- Perform daily prestart checks and follow safe operating practices.
- Support the engineering team during the building and installation of drilling rigs.
Health & Safety
- Follow all company safety procedures and lead by example with safe work practices.
- Take reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others.
Teamwork & Communication
- Communicate effectively with engineers, management and workshop staff.
- Uphold company values: Resourceful, Respectful and Genuine.
What We're Looking For Essential
- NZQA Level 4 trade qualification.
- Full NZ Driver Licence.
- Relevant industry experience in welding and fabrication.
- Strong communication, problem solving and decision making skills.
Desirable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Pre‑Employment Requirements
- Criminal and traffic convictions check.
- Health assessment.
