Qualified Maintenance Carpenter We’re on the lookout for a trade qualified Maintenance Carpenter to join a small, easy-going team working across a portfolio of residential properties in Central Christchurch. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and is looking for consistent, long-term employment.
Location: Central Christchurch, Christchurch Start date: 20th April Pay rate: $32–$35 per hour (depending on experience)
About the role: You’ll be carrying out a mix of planned and reactive maintenance across multiple residential sites. No two days are the same — this role suits someone who can think on their feet and deliver quality workmanship across a range of tasks.
Key responsibilities:
- General maintenance and repair work on rental properties
- Interior work including gib repairs, doors, trims, and minor refurbishments
- Exterior work such as cladding repairs, fencing, decking, and weatherproofing
- Identifying issues on-site and providing practical solutions
- Ensuring all work meets NZ building codes and high quality standards
- Managing time effectively across multiple job sites
What we’re looking for:
- NZ Level 4 Carpentry Certificate (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in maintenance or residential carpentry
- Strong knowledge of NZ building standards and practices
- Ability to work independently and manage your workload
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Full driver’s licence
- Own tools
