Description
Why Apply
Sick of capping out in NZ while watching the same wages year after year? This is your chance to make a proper move.
This is a tight-knit, fast-growing electrical contracting company based in Karratha, WA. They work with some of WA's biggest energy clients and they're looking for 2-3 electricians to join the crew.
- Earn up to $165k effective: $140k-$145k base + $20k tax-free living allowance + 4WD work vehicle + fuel card
- 7 weeks annual leave per year, giving you real time to recharge
- Work on serious HV infrastructure including substations, transformers, circuit breakers, relay testing, and HV switching across WA
- Company funds HV switching and further HV courses so you grow your skills on the job with a crew that backs you
- Young, social team with a fishing boat, workshop bar, pub catch-ups, golf, and BBQs. This is a lifestyle as much as a job
- Short swings away, typically 3-6 days and not long mining rosters. You are home regularly
The Role
You will be based residentially in Karratha and working across WA on electrical contracting and HV maintenance projects. Around 50% of your time is spent on site swings, the rest is workshop-based or local.
A typical week looks like:
- Substation HV testing and maintenance
- Transformer, circuit breaker, and relay testing
- HV switching operations
- Working as part of a team of 4-6 techs in the field
- Travelling to mine sites and energy distribution infrastructure across WA
- Workshop-based equipment overhaul and testing when back in Karratha
- The work is solid and the pipeline is strong.
What We Need
- Valid A-Grade electrical licence (NZ-qualified? Your WA licence takes around 10 working days to sort)
- HV or industrial electrical background is a strong advantage
- Genuine willingness to relocate to Karratha and live there residentially
- Comfortable travelling away approximately 50% of the time on short swings
- Good attitude and team fit because culture matters here as much as skills
- Flexible during busy periods (June-August can run to 6-day weeks)
Why This Role
This is a rare package for an electrician: $160k-$165k effective, 7 weeks leave, and short swings mean you are actually living well, not just working hard. This company is growing at 40% a year, so you are joining at the right time with real room to develop. For the right Kiwi sparky, this is the kind of move that actually changes things.
