Description
We're looking for reliable, physically fit team players to join a small crew stacking and loading steel rail lines onto dunnage at the port. If you enjoy hands‑on work, don't mind rolling up your sleeves, and can handle the great outdoors (whatever the weather decides to do), this could be right up your alley.
About the role:
- 10 days to two-week duration
- Day and night shifts
- Weekdays and weekends
- 12-hour shifts
- Working with a small team
- Outdoor work - weather can be variable
- Very physical role
Duties:
- Guiding rail lines as they're discharged from the ship by crane onto the reach‑stacker
- Helping line up loads accurately with dunnage
- Guiding the grab onto the rails and ensuring it's locked in securely
- Loading rail lines onto wagons or stacking them on the wharf
- Using levers to stack loads and placing locking bars correctly
- Keeping a sharp eye on health and safety at all times
Job requirements:
- Clean, full New Zealand driver's licence
- Strong physical fitness - able to lift and lever rail lines
- Solid health and safety awareness
- Ability to follow strict procedures
- Availability for an early May start
- Able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and have a clear criminal history
