Lloyd Heslop Motors is a long-established and respected automotive, commercial vehicle, engineering, and transport business based in Nelson. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Parts Interpreter to join our Parts Department and play a key role in supporting our customers, workshop teams, and wider business operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced parts professional who enjoys customer interaction, technical problem-solving, inventory management, and mentoring others within a fast-paced environment.
About the Role Reporting directly to the Parts Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient procurement, supply, and sale of parts to both internal departments and external customers. You will ensure high levels of customer satisfaction while maintaining strong stock control and operational efficiency.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert parts interpretation and technical advice
- Managing customer enquiries via phone, email, online platforms, and counter sales
- Preparing quotations and processing sales orders
- Supporting workshop teams across truck, automotive, engineering, and specialist divisions
- Ordering, receiving, dispatching, and returning parts
- Maintaining inventory accuracy through stock control and stocktakes
- Monitoring outstanding purchase orders and supplier invoices
- Assisting with urgent parts deliveries within the Nelson region
- Maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Identifying sales opportunities and contributing to business growth
- Mentoring and supporting less experienced team members
- Ensuring Health & Safety standards are maintained at all times
What We're Looking For The successful applicant will have:
- Proven experience as a Parts Interpreter, preferably in automotive, truck, heavy vehicle, agricultural, or industrial equipment sectors
- Strong technical knowledge and the ability to identify and source parts accurately
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Experience with inventory management and stock control systems
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities
- A proactive, solutions-focused attitude
- The ability to work effectively within a team environment
- A commitment to workplace health and safety
- A full New Zealand driver's licence
