EWP & Forklift Technician
Hawkes Bay Crane & Platform Hire
Listing Description
Description
Hawkes Bay Crane & Platform Hire is a proudly family-owned and operated company, specialising in the hire of mobile cranes, EWPs and forklifts throughout the Hawke’s Bay region.
Over the past 10 years, our business has continued to grow steadily, and in late 2025 we moved into our new purpose-built yard and workshop in Whakatu after outgrowing our previous premises. With this growth comes opportunity — and we’re now looking to welcome an experienced MEWP / Access Equipment Technician to join our team.
This is a varied, hands-on role, working across workshop-based servicing and field breakdowns, helping ensure both our own fleet and our customers’ equipment are maintained to the highest standards of safety and reliability.
About the role:
- You’ll be responsible for the repair, servicing, inspection and certification of a wide range of access equipment and forklifts, working both in our modern workshop and out on customer sites across the greater Hawke’s Bay area.
Key responsibilities include:
- Repair and maintenance of scissor lifts, boom lifts, cherry pickers and forklifts
- Inspection, testing and certification of access equipment
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
- Providing technical advice and support to customers regarding their equipment
- Ensuring all work meets company, manufacturer and health & safety standards
What we’re looking for:
- We’re keen to hear from technicians who take pride in their work, enjoy problem-solving, and are comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- CBIP1 or EWPA Registered Inspector Programme (RIP) qualification (or a willingness to obtain — we’re happy to support the right person).
- Experience with hydraulics and auto-electrical systems
- Strong mechanical maintenance and repair knowledge
- Previous experience working on EWPs and/or forklifts
- A practical, safety-focused mindset and good communication skills
What we offer:
- Permanent, full-time role with guaranteed hours
- 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Rostered weekend work – one weekend per month
- Pay rate: $35.00 – $45.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Modern, purpose-built workshop and well-maintained fleet
- A supportive, close-knit team environment
- Genuine opportunities for training, upskilling and long-term career growth
Location: Whakatu, Hawke’s Bay Employment type: Permanent, Full-time
A pre-employment drug test will be required prior to any offer of employment.
