Operate, maintain and respond to faults across local water networks. A practical, frontline role keeping essential services flowing.

Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

We're seeking a Water Serviceperson to support operations and maintenance across local water and wastewater networks in Tauranga. This hands-on role is focused on ensuring critical infrastructure operates safely, reliably and in line with contract requirements and Downer standard operating procedures.

You'll respond to network faults, complete routine maintenance and reinstatement works and manage customer notifications and service requests in a timely and professional manner. You'll take ownership of your work, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard and within required response times.

A key part of the role involves accurate field reporting and documentation, including maintaining up-to-date records and as-built information using mobile field devices.

You'll work closely with supervisors, team members, subcontractors, suppliers and council representatives to deliver quality outcomes. Participation in a standby and call-out roster is required, along with supporting incident response and civil emergency events when needed.

This role suits someone who enjoys practical, field-based work, takes pride in workmanship, and is committed to safety, teamwork and delivering excellent service to the community.

Mōu koe | About You

You will bring:

  • Experience maintaining urban and rural water reticulation networks
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to deliver high-quality workmanship and meet productivity targets
  • Confidence dealing with the public and responding to service requests
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Experience completing field reporting and using mobile devices for data entry
  • A proactive, self-motivated and results-oriented approach
  • A safety-first mindset aligned with Zero Harm

Qualifications & Licences:

  • Full Class 1 driver licence (Class 2 and RTW an advantage)
  • Traffic management, confined spaces and hazard awareness training (desirable)
  • Infrastructure Works Level 2 (preferred)
