Mo tatou | About us - What we do Our role at Antarctica New Zealand is to support world-leading science and environmental protection in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. Scott Base is the hub of New Zealand's activities in Antarctica and each year, we employ seasonal staff to manage base activity and support science in the field.
Mō te mahi | About the role - What you'll be doing It takes a passionate, diverse, and highly skilled team to run Scott Base. You will be joining a diverse and motivated team in the world's most dynamic workplace.
As the Operations Scheduler, you will be responsible for detailed planning, scheduling, coordination and communications support to deliver the Antarctic season plan.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinates and optimise helicopter and fixed wing logistics, scheduling and flight planning
- Maintains an overview of resource constraints and communicates how these may impact on the safe delivery of the Antarctic Season plan
- Regularly updates the planned schedule throughout the summer season using our reporting and database tools
- Provides a clear overview of scheduling and planning to the Scott Base leadership team
This is a summer role of approximately six months from August 2026 to February 2027.

You enjoy a fast-paced work environment where plans change as frequently as the weather. You are a highly motivated individual who enjoys teamwork, a dynamic workplace and is an excellent communicator.
Skills and Experience Include:
- Operational experience in Antarctica and/or the aviation industry
- Operations management or equivalent experience in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, organisations and programmes at an operational level
- Current NZ driver's licence - manual endorsement
