Shipping Cost

Details of shipping costs are provided in the listings. We can combine shipping to save you on costs. If your total purchase is worth $150 or more, shipping is FREE.

Shipping Method

We use Courier Post, NZ Post and Fastway Couriers to deliver orders. You will receive an email confirmation when we dispatch your item to you.

Shipping Times

We strive to deliver within 1-5 working days in NZ.

If you are in a rural area, it may be an additional 1 – 2 business days.

Please allow additional delivery times of up to 5 business days, if your order is placed within two days of public holidays.

Please note that orders placed after 12.00pm on a Friday may not be dispatched until the following Monday. Weekends and all public holidays are not classed as a business day. All orders will be processed on the first available business day.

If you need an item urgently, please inquire first on stock availability before you place an order. We retail the products in our physical stores too so stocks come and go but we get regular supply of items that we list here on trade me.

Delays can happen due to a number of reasons. If this is the case, we will communicate with you to find a solution.

If you have not received the goods within the given time frame, please contact us as soon as you can so we can have this looked into with the postal service provider.

RETURNS & EXCHANGES POLICY (ONLINE TRADING)

We know that buying online can be a delight or a disappointment. For your peace of mind, we are happy to offer an exchange or refund to the value of the purchased goods subject to the following conditions;

• You inform us by email, the reason behind the return or exchange.
• We received the item back within 10 working days in original, sellable condition.
• Item is clean, unworn, and all original tags attached.
• Include proof of purchase, Trade Me reference number, and if possible, a copy of the email correspondents.
• Include a prepaid bag in the post for items you wish to exchange.
• You shoulder the full cost of shipping.
• Refund, if applicable, is made thru the original form of payment within seven working days.

Faulty Items

If item purchased is faulty, we will provide a remedy as required by the Consumers Guarantees Act.

• Email us photos to enable us to assess the fault.
• If the product is deemed faulty, we have the right to choose the best remedy- repair, replace, or refund.
• We will also shoulder the postage costs incurred in the process.

PRODUCT GUARANTEE

All sheepskin and woollen products are warranted to the original owner for one year against defective materials and workmanship. If faulty merchandise is purchased, we’ll repair the product without charge or replace it at our discretion. This though does not extend to problems that may arise from damage caused by accident (e.g. Spilling wine on article), improper care (e.g. Article soaking in water for too long), negligence (e.g. Pets chewing on article), normal wear and tear, or the natural breakdown of colours and materials over extended time or use.

Slight dye transfer may occur with darker coloured sheepskin during the first few wears. Lighter coloured ones may pick up inks from clothing with which it has come in contact with. Exposing the sheepskin in the sun for too long may also cause some discolouration. This is not covered under the manufacturer’s limited warranty.

Because sheepskin, wool, and possum fur are all natural products, there may be some irregularities and variations in colour, texture, fit, and wear. These traits are characteristics of fine natural products and add beauty to the character of our footwear, apparel, and rugs.

Our love for sheepskin started way back in 2008 while working in a Sheepskin Factory in Napier. It wasn’t exactly love at first sight as you can imagine having to endure the stench of raw sheepskin from morning ‘til noon, five days a week. At the end of day, we would go home covered in fluff and smelling more like a sheep than a person. And that’s just the best part.

Much work and effort go into the manufacturing of sheepskin from sorting the raw materials to tanning, finishing, and creating into the products we enjoy today. The experiences we’ve had in this industry and the understanding of the processes involved made us appreciate the value and importance of this beautiful material even more.

We moved to Auckland in 2010 and ventured into making and selling our own handmade baby footwear to every craft market we could join. In October 2011, fate led us to different path when we took over the former sheepskin shop at 34 Barrys Point Road in Takapuna, where we are still located. We eventually renamed it “The Sheepskin Factory”. Exciting? Yes, but it was a rough start that the prospect of smelling like a sheep again is a more lucrative idea. No kidding.

We are fortunate enough to work closely with reputable NZ manufacturers and suppliers who have all been very supportive of us to this day. Our customer base grew as we expanded our product range and it all continued to develop from there.

In 2012, we started trading online thru Trade Me. 2014 was the year when we’ve fully developed our own ecommerce website to serve more customers locally and internationally and to promote various NZ Made products from Sheepskin Footwear & Rugs, Possum Merino Knitwear to Gift Items and Skin Care.

We had a major setback when one of our footwear manufacturers shut down in 2016. That’s when we decided to add one of the known Australian sheepskin brands in our product range to fill the gap. We know that this move can be frowned upon in a company mainly offering all NZ Made but we see some opportunities here that will ultimately benefit the interest of our customers. Other different brands with great products followed suit. At the end of the day, it’s all about offering the best options to our customers and making sure they’re happy with their choices.

In the latter part of 2018, we have opened a mini version of our physical store inside the premises of Maharlika Trading at 15c Vega Place, near Constellation Drive. We also have a few stocks in Palmerston North, where footwear and offcuts can be bought by scheduling a time for viewing.

Today, we’re still a small family-orientated business with our own fair share of challenges and victories. We’re looking forward to a promising future as we open up to more possibilities and opportunities along the way.

We have become more passionate than ever to strive and provide the best Sheepskin and Wool products in the market. Their wondrous benefits have lasting positive impact in our daily life and general wellbeing, particularly in the care of young ones and the elderly. Sounds cliché, but we do have a soft spot for them. Finding and creating the best products that would work effectively for them and for the average folks, like us, are one of our main goals.

A year ago, we decided to label most of our classic NZ Made footwear with our own trademark, The Sheepskin Factory, in preparation for the many products that we wanted to design and create, targeted directly to the needs of our valued customers spanning not just footwear but also homeware, medical products, and car accessories. It is an ambitious project but it’s something that we have always wanted to do right from the start to compliment and strengthen the current range that we have.

The core strength of our brand ultimately comes from the many happy and satisfied customers we serve and we hope to continue doing so for many more years to come.

Sheepskin products have been around for more than a century and are an integral part of the kiwi lifestyle and tradition. The use of sheepskin is passed on from generation to generation and is recognized all over the world. It certainly provides unsurpassed comfort and warmth, the kiwi way.

Sheepskin Footwear- Wearing a pair is indeed life changing as it comes with heaps of benefits like helping improve circulation, keeping the skin moisturised, and making the feet warm and dry all the time. Yes, your feet won’t smell unless it already is!

Sheepskin Rugs & Seat Covers- Sheepskin and wool are not just extremely comfortable and warm in winter, but these also have amazing uses in summer. Have you ever heard the phrase, “warm in winter and cool in summer”? Try using sheepskin on your leather car seat on a hot summer day and you’ll know what I mean. Your bum will thank you for it.

Medical Sheepskin Products- Our medical products range from footwear, seat covers, to infant care, and bed underlays. These are made for the purpose of providing maximum comfort, protection, and support using carefully selected wool with much density and resiliency. The properties of sheepskin aid in the recovery of injuries and muscle pains, prevent bed sores, provide relief to pressure points to name a few.

Possum Merino Knitwear- Our luxurious knitwear is made with possum fur and merino. Possum fur is one of the best natural hollow fibres in the world that has exceptional insulation properties. This makes our knitwear extremely warm, soft to touch, and very light to wear. No need to cover in thick layers of clothing that don’t do much but make you look like you’re ready to pop.

Sheepskin is a by-product of the meat industry, which is one of NZ’s largest industries. What otherwise would go to waste are made into beautiful products that are used sustainably.

Possum is a pest in New Zealand. Sadly, they wreak havoc in NZ’s natural ecosystem. Various government and private agencies manage possum control but their effort is not enough to eliminate the threat. Wearing possum knitwear won’t hurt at all. It will only do you and the environment some good.

We only deal with companies that observe ethical practices in this industry- from their workers to the manufacturing and distribution of their products. These companies have been in business longer than most of us has ever lived. Their commitment to the environment is one we can trust.

Compared to others in the same industry, we are fairly new. We’re still a work in progress but we are committed to giving our customers the best possible shopping experience we can provide online and instore.

We sell our Products at Reasonable Prices- We cannot guarantee that we have the lowest prices but we can definitely say that our products are fairly and reasonably priced. It’s good for you and our business.

We Post Overseas GST Free- Postage alone may sometimes cost more than your purchase. We help a bit by not charging GST on items that you order for overseas.

We take care of the documentation, packaging, and handling at no extra cost. Postage is charged according to the approximate amount charged by NZ Post. You may choose either International Airmail Post or Courier with Tracking.

Please be aware that your purchase may incur customs duties or taxes in the country of destination. We have no control over it and we cannot be held liable for the costs. It pays to do a bit of research before you proceed.
