BMW M5 E34 1991
Description
1991 BMW E34 M5 – Low 92k
3.6 litre S38 B36 motor with 5 speed Getrag 280 gear box, 3.91 LSD. Factory rated at 315 Bhp. Grey leather seats with leather console and lower dash and extend nappa leather door inserts (SA models)
Genuine low kilometre M5 which had been off the road for above 8 years until I re-commissioned it about 6 months ago. In the time I have had it I have done the following;
Full service including engine, gearbox, diff oils. All rust removed. Spark plugs, dyno’d to confirm running correctly with Gavin Bellars. Clusters and various electrics repaired. Roof lining replace with fully reconditioned fabric. Seats to be coloured soon.
Dyno’d at 182 kw at the wheels which is only 4 kw behind the same engine I have in another of my cars which has custom headers. Excellent performance and condition.
All I have left to do is an aircon re-gas ($130), small amount of paint on the bonnet and roof which I will do prior to sale (circa $1k). The suspension does needs a bit of work for my liking but isn’t urgent. I am currently unsure whether to go to factory shock absorbers or Bilstein’s aftermarket, hence I have decided to list and allow the potential purchaser choose and I can factor into the price paid whether done or not.
Currently a fast appreciating collector’s item and with low kilometres . There can’t be a better car to purchase to either fully restore or use as a daily classic. The last E34 M5 sold in NZ went for $25k and had circa 300k on it.
One of the rare 265 South African M5’s. See link a below explaining all versions of E34 M5. http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=12
Reason for sale is I have two other M5’s I prefer, and a M5 clone toy, hence I just don’t have the time to put into it anymore and won’t stay in my dream garage. As such it’s a rare opportunity for someone to grab.
