Classic Ketch of William Fife II
Maud was designed & built by William Fife III of Fairlie, Scotland in 1899 for custom house officer Robert L Brown of Largs, North Ayrshire, Scotland. It was the first Ketch ever built by William Fire & sons.( A ketch is a sailing craft with two masts: a main mast, and a shorter mizzen mast abaft (rearward) of the main mast, but forward of the rudder post. Both masts are rigged mainly fore-and-aft. From one to three jibs may be carried forward of the main mast when going to windward.)
Fife once said that the secret of a great yacht was that it should be both "fast and bonnie".
She was originally named the "Acsenov" No.455 of William Fife & sons. She became quite famous in the UK and was once owned by famous English yachtsman, Claud Worth along with C.D Marshall for several years and is mentioned in the book "Good Boats" by Roger C Taylor.

Maud is built with oak frames & pitch-pine planking.
