Below are the general processes we use for the care of greenstone jewellery:
- STONE RESTORATION
(a) Greenstone has a clean break or has snapped:
Pin and glue: We pin the two pieces of stone together by drilling small stainless steel pins and securing them with strong adhesive. We can also reinforce the support around the break by binding it with a cord.
Alternatively, we can reshape broken pieces into different designs by sanding or transforming them.
(b) Chipped or cracked greenstone:
Reshaping and sanding: We smooth over the chipped part of the stone using a sandstone file. This may alter the shape of the carving slightly. But we won't risk your precious Taonga for further damage.
- NECKLACE CORD REPLACEMENT
(a) Your necklace cord is frayed or worn:
We offer either ready-made replacement cords that can be easily fitted onto the greenstone pendant. There are a few colours of thread to choose from: black/brown/tan/white/red/green.
(b) Loose binding around Greenstone pendant:
We replace the cord and rebind the pendant. We offer different styles of cord plaiting and can replace the original binding or change it completely.
